Family Application Procedure

  1. After receiving the Family Application Form via the online registration, Sunny Smiles will process the application immediately.
  2. Sunny Smiles will call the family to discuss family’s requirements for Au pair duties.
  3. Sunny Smiles emails suitable Applicant’s profiles which include Application Form each accompanied with 2 references, medical certificate, police check and Au pair’s photos.
  4. Family contacts Sunny Smiles by return with choice of favourite applicants from the selection of profiles Sunny Smiles has emailed them.
  5. Sunny Smiles then forwards the family profile to the chosen applicant’s agent.
  6. Once the Au-pair is informed and is happy with the family profile a skype call between the two participants is arranged. Sunny Smiles always helps with arranging the date and the time of this call. Note: Telephone calls can sometimes be a stressful moment for the Au-pair. Their English is often not good enough to communicate swiftly and understand everything you say. So, if you do wish to speak to them, please speak very slowly, use simple sentences and speak clearly.
  7. The family must inform Sunny Smiles if they want to accept the chosen Au pair straight after the skype call and will be asked to write a personal letter of invitation for their Au-pair if Au pair also accepts the position with the chosen family. Attaching a family photograph either to the family profile or to the letter of invitation is always a very nice touch.
  8. We will then issue final placement documents and send these on to the Au pair’s agent. Au pair will only purchase their travel ticket at this point.
  9. Should the client refuse the Applicants offered or should the Au-pair decline the client’s family, Sunny Smiles will forward details of further Applicants to the client.
  10. When the date of the Au-pair’s arrival is agreed, the Au-pair is asked to make his/her travel arrangements, details of which will subsequently be forwarded to the family in a form of Au pair placement confirmation. The family will be expected to collect the Au pair from an arrival point in the UK or reimburse any travel cost to the family from such point.
  11. Prior to the Au pair’s Sunny Smiles will post a generous Welcome Pack to the Au-pair including sim card, list of fellow Au pair’s contact details with access to Au pairs contact website, BAPAA Au pair handbook and Childcare Handbook, information about language schools and dates of Au pairs meetings. We will telephone the family and the Au-pair on the day or shortly after of arrival to make sure everything is okay.
