Mother’s Help/Housekeeper


Mother’s Help:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age but usually are older or speak good English
  • May have no formal childcare qualifications but has at least 2 years childcare experience such being Au pair, are older and have helped in local playgroup or other regular babysitting and childcare.
  • Usually works alongside a mother caring for children as well as helping with general household duties.
  • Works up to 10 hours per day but should not exceed working for more than 45 hours per week plus Babysit 2-3 time per week
  • Receives at least 1 full day off per week and 3 evenings off per week.
  • Receives weekly pay NET of:
    • European MH – £150 – 35hrs,    £175 – 40hrs,    £200 – 45hrs
    • UK MH –   £185 – 35hrs,    £215 – 40hrs,    £235 – 45hrs
  • The host family is responsible for the tax and the N.I. contributions being paid. ( we can provide you with a payroll companies on request)
  • Receives free board and lodgings with a host family.
  • BAPAA recommends that, the Mother’s Help receives 28 days of paid holiday pro rata per annum or 1.66 days per month pro-rata if the placement is shorter than a year. This can include public and bank holidays.

Housekeeper:

  • There is no restriction on age.
  • Help with day to day running of the house such housework, preparing or assisting with mealtimes, driving, shopping but also some childcare if needed.
  • Work up to 45 hours per week with at least 1 full day off per week.
  • Receives weekly pay NET of £160-£250
  • The host family is responsible for the tax and the N.I. contributions being paid. ( we can provide you with a payroll companies on request)
  • Receives free board and lodgings with a host family.
  • According to Working Time Regulations, BAPAA recommends that, the Housekeeper receives 28 days of paid holiday pro rata per annum or 1.66 days per month pro-rata if the placement is shorter than a year. This can include public and bank holidays.
